Hi there, Boise!
As the Egyptian has started re-opening, we’ve been getting a lot of questions; and we have some answers.
Is BCM coming back?!
Is BCM coming back to the Egyptian?
Wait. What!!! Why?!
Long story short: the Egyptian is under new management, and we just couldn’t make it work.
BUT! they have made some great improvements to the building, and they’re going to have some really good programs. The Egyptian is Boise’s historic theatrical gem and we all have to take care of it.
We’re indescribably proud of the life we gave it over the past 9 years. Now begins a new chapter for the theater, and it’s going to be exciting to see. I know I’ll be at concerts and other shows, even movies.
So, what comes next for BCM?
Job one at BCM is celebrating movies together. While we’re not at the Egyptian anymore, we’re not done celebrating movies with you. Like you, we’ve spent the last 18 months watching movies at home, dreaming of the day when we can get together again. We’re getting close to that time, and we’re really excited to see you again!
Of course, we want to re-launch safely. We all have our eyes on the state’s vaccination rate and infection rate as delta makes things uncertain again. When we do open, we’ll have proper spacing, masking, and ventilation ready to go.
Will BCM be the same?
Yes and no. It won’t be exactly the same; how could it be? Movies at the Egyptian won’t be the same, either.
But what hasn’t changed is the BCM community. BCM has never been just about the movie. It’s about the gathering. It’s about sharing movies together as a community.
At BCM, you’ll still pick the movies, and we’ll all still share them together. The suggestion form is open, and we’ll have a vote up as soon as we have dates lined up.
And of course, place matters. We’re going to share movies in some really special places.
I want to watch movies in a farm field sitting on a hay bail as fall sets in. I want to watch movies outside around a fire in December where my toes go numb just as the end credits roll. I want to eat a killer meal and sip a cocktail while rewatching my favorite Hitchcock flick. I want to watch Brazil with a bunch of nerds and snobs (like me) at some arthouse spot. I want to watch the Dude abide at a bowling alley.
If you’re into any of that, then stay tuned; we’re going to have a lot of fun!
The submission form is open. What do you want to see next?
