Hello, Dave. Won’t you come to the Egyptian Theatre on May 8, 2014, to see Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey on the big screen?
This 1968 classic features visual effects that stand up even today, though they were conceived before Star Wars, or even the moon landing. Seeing such a visually stunning show like 2001 on the big screen at the Egyptian is going to be a real thrill!
You want your tickets right now? I’m sorry, Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that. The movie has to reach it’s 200-ticket tipping point first. As soon as the 200th Kubrick freak orders tickets, you may have them.
So spread the word so we can get this thing tipped!
Here’s the scoop:
2001 is a story of evolution. Sometime in the distant past, someone or something nudged evolution by placing a monolith on Earth (presumably elsewhere throughout the universe as well). Evolution then enabled humankind to reach the moon’s surface, where yet another monolith is found, one that signals the monolith placers that humankind has evolved that far. Now a race begins between computers (HAL) and human (Bowman) to reach the monolith placers. The winner will achieve the next step in evolution, whatever that may be. –from IMDB
